Favorite Bible Verse: Psalm 121:1-2 I lift my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven & earth. First TEC Experience: The first TEC I worked was TEC #37 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA. I was very nervous about working and wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into. I was an Adult Table Leader, which meant lots of contact with the candidates, another reason to be nervous. I remember having doubts about my abilities and whether I was "right" for this position. I also remember praying about it and asking God to equip me with whatever I needed for that weekend. I still went to the weekend with my nerves running high, but there were some experienced adult table leaders who were very helpful. They encouraged those of us who were "rookies" to step back and let God have control of the weekend. They were also there if we had any questions. My Student Table Leader was amazing. I learned so much from him and was so impressed with his mature faith. I could tell he really loved the Lord and didn’t mind sharing it with anyone. We had some awesome share times with our table. One other neat part of the weekend was that I had the opportunity to share it with my oldest son, who also worked. We had a really neat experience serving God together and watching how powerful God is and how he uses each one of us. After that weekend, I was hooked and have since worked several weekends. They have all been unique experiences, no two the same. And after each one, I stand in awe at the wonderful things God allows to happen at each weekend. | |
