So what is this council thing all about? Who are they and what do they do? This is a question often asked by those who are new to TEC, or even some of the seasoned veterans. This page is here to answer the questions of what certain positions on council are and the function of such positions.
Convenor
The convenor leads all council meetings & arranges for prayer & devotions, Opens all leadership meetings prior to team meeting with prayer, Is in charge of Public relations with other firms or churches & Finds AC's for each TEC weekend.
Co-Convenor
The Co-Convenor assists the Convenor with his/her duties, Leads TEC council meetings in the absence of the Convenor.
Secretary
The Secretary records Minutes of the Council Meetings, Keeps a permanent record of all council minutes, Keeps a permanent record of participants of each TEC weekend listing which team or position they served & sends out correspondence requested by the council.
Treasurer
The treasurer keeps financial records & prepares monthly reports for the TEC Council meetings, Balances the checkbook with bank records and has all records available for the yearly audit performed by an unbiased 3rd party appointed by the council, collects all weekend fees from all attendees of the TEC weekends & is in charge & pays for Supply Trailer insurance & license.
Music Committee
The Music Committee is Responsible for all music manuals, including content, updating, copying, etc., is Responsible for the sound system, maintenance, repair, training & security, Heads up any committees necessary concerning music decisions & makes sure a responsible person is present for set up and take down of the sound system equipment at each weekend or when used (Preferably a trained council member).
Publicity Committee
The Publicity Committee consists of 4 people 2 adults and 2 students, Plans social events (one between each TEC weekend, in advance; ie. concert, bonfires, bowling...), In charge of Lifelight & Rise Fest, booths, etc.
Website & Newsletter Committee
The Website & Newsletter Committee consists of 3-4 people, prepares and sends out the newsletter, maintains a current mailing list in conjunction with the permanent file with the secretary, emails or mails out information about upcoming TEC's & events & sends updates and information to the website manager.
Spiritual Director Committee
Reviews and updates the TEC manual if necessary in reference to doctrine or theological issues, Assesses any candidate special request for qualification or need to attend a weekend, Recruits pastors for the list that AC's can choose from for the TEC weekend they are in charge of & Communicates with future TEC AC's about manual distribution for the TEC weekends.
Site Selection Committee
The Site Selection Committee consists of a minimum of two people, Locate facilities for TEC weekends and coordinates the use of each facility (which rooms/buildings we can use from that facility), Coordinates weekends with other existing programs (ie. YA-TEC, Crossroads TEC) & keeps a permanent record of Locations, visited and used for future reference.
Team Allocations Committee
The Team Allocations Committee selects students from received applications to give talks and serve on a team, selects adults from received applications to serve in leadership roles on each team, collects evaluations from previous TEC weekends to be used for team selections on future weekends, Puts together Leadership names & Updates Manuals when needed.
Candidate Allocations Committee
The Candidates Allocations Committee is responsible for selecting Candidates based on the following criteria:
Candidates in grades 10-12 are eligible to attend a TEC weekend, Seniors may attend through the Summer after their high school graduation, Candidate applications will be received beginning the day after completion of the previous TEC weekend, Applications are selected on the following criteria:
Any TEC candidate who applied to the previous TEC weekend and were put on a waiting list, get first priority.
Any candidate who applied for the previous TEC weekend but could not attend.
Applications are dated when they are received with the earlier applications receiving first priority
Candidates are limited to one candidate per table per school. (ie. 6 tables-6 candidates from Sioux Center High School).
